Lectures/Master Classes in Music Production and Engineering – I love to share my knowledge and experiences with participants in Seminars and Master Classes. I’ve done them in all sizes and formats, the last one a 1-day at the Wisseloord Academy Summer Camp in Miami. They vary in focus, size and format, and every single one is a bit different. I believe in organic interaction and participation (lab format), and recognizing where the participants are is key to delivering information that can be immediately put to use. From 2-day to 14-day, I cover a wide range of information, bringing in material from all aspects of production to form a wholesome piece of learning. Some of the focuses I regularly present are:

-       From Pre-production to Final Master. In this model we produce 1 song (or 2 or more depending on time and group size) from repertoire selection through the many steps until we reach a final version  ready for distribution. A&R, briefing, concept and planning, logistics, arrangement, musicians, recording, overdubs, vocal recording, premix editing and tuning, mixing and mastering. The idea is to give a reliable and flexible road map with tons of information along the way.

-       Mixing – learning to listen and feeling the magic, while checking the tools and processes to get the most impacting sonic result for a song. In this process, we go over different genres, selected by group size and expectations.

-       The Recording Engineer – creating the pallet of colors and “surfing the room”. Analyzing every element and the many variables possible, starting with studying arrangements, musician’s styles, genres, rooms, microphones, recording gear, session logistics and psychology, reading the room, communication.

All Master Classes happen live, in person, and although the models are used as guidance, no event is quite the same as they all have different participants and different Music.
